So I don’t claim to know anything about politics (as Harper would confer), but I tried watching all 3 presidential debates over the past 2 weeks.
I hadn’t really followed the election at ALL before that. I’m to the point where I dont care anymore, not because I dont give a shit about what happens in the US,
but even if I have strong feelings one way or the other, my one vote doesn’t mean shit, no matter what MTV or Puff Daddy says.
Plus, the voting process is flawed as shit. Even if the people use their voting power to say who they want to run this country, doesn’t the Electoral College
actually pick the president? So even if the people pick the incumbent, GWB may still end up as pres. again (think of all the sad hippies)
Now I’m not a Bush supporter as much as I just can’t stand Kerry. I know nothing of his past political decisions in the Senate, I base it on what I’ve seen of him
in the news and print (yeah yeah, I know.. those outlets are biased.. blah blah blah) People accuse Bush of being a puppet, but look at Kerry, he’ll promise whatever
the fuck it takes to get him elected. Do I think he’d come through on any of this, no way. He says the war’s a mistake, and that we shouldn’t be there, and that the world
voted against it. So how does he plan on the world being behind him if he said it’s a mistake. Tony Blair should fight him.
But GWB, seriously, sometimes you need to sftu. In the last debate you were asked why the U.S. didnt have enough flu vaccines. You shifted the blame to an English firm,
and then said “well, if you’re in good health, you dont need one then.” that’s not what U.S. citizens want to hear. It’s stupid things like this that’s going to get Kerry elected
If thats the case, then I’m really interested to see how much of these promises he’s made (how many times did he say in the debates “i’m looking straight into the camera
america, i’m going to do this, that, …etc”) A Washington Post poll puts Kerry at 49%, Bush as 48%. Looks like the debates swung the undecided votes in Kerry’s direction.
Just because Bush isn’t a good debater, nothing to do w/ his politics, right hippies? heh
