I was thinking to myself last night while watching the news about the heatwave in Chicago right now "Pfft, it’s hot, but how are there heat-related deaths and such?"

Well, I said that while sitting on my couch with the A/C kicking out ice cubes.

About 5:00 last night, the power at our house had 2 minor spikes. Turned off for seconds, and then back on. I didnt think of it as a big deal since that’s bound to happen when everyone that owns a Air Conditioner is going to have it on during a day like this. Then about an hour later I’m starting to get a little uncomfortable, so I walked over to the vents in my living room to find out what the deal is with the cold air, then find… there is no cold air. Durning that power surge, it somehow f’ed our A/C. The blower on the furnace is still going, but the actual Air Conditioner outside stopped working. I’m thinking it’s some sort of fuse problem since the circuit it’s on is fine, but I’m not electrician, and there’s no way I was sticking my hand in that fuse panel on the A/C unit without knowing wtf I was doing.

So last night was unbearable as shit trying to sleep. We opened the windows in hopes of catching some breeze, but when it’s still 90+ degrees at 8:00 at night, it’s just HOT. Right now it’s about 85 degrees in the house, and it was impossible to get a good nights sleep last night. Any time I would nod off for even a few minutes, I’d wake back up because of the heat.

Hopefully we can get it fixed tonight since it’s still in the 90′s here. After today it’s supposed to cool off a bit (meaning 80′s, hardly COOL!), but I can only imagine how hot it’s going to be in there for the next few days.

Our cats keep coming over to us whining like crazy because of the heat. Deal with it, Jen and I are!

So this is warning, if I’m crabby w/ anyone over the next day or two, I’ll just give you the URL to this post as an explanation
